The first Warriors Beach Volleyball Tournament is in the books

On Saturday, August 1, Warriors ran its first ever Beach Volleyball Tournament at Sandstorm Beach Club, and the sand delivered. Around 50 players competed across two formats, Doubles and Team of 4, with the finals stretching into a second weekend of play.

The day had everything that makes Warriors what it is: loud energy, first-timers next to veterans, music between points, hand-made medals, wristbands, free sausages at exactly the right moment, and a visit from special guests of the Latin American community who came to see what this volunteer-run movement looks like on a Saturday morning.

It was also a first for us as organisers. A tournament is a very different animal from a weekly session, and we learned a lot: about fixtures, about referees, about communicating rules before match day, and about how many folded-paper scoreboards one venue office stapler can produce. We ran a full debrief with the organising team and a participant feedback survey, and the lessons are already written down for the next one.

To everyone who played, refereed, cheered, cooked, took photos and packed up: thank you. This one was the first. It will not be the last.
