23 September 2026
On Wednesday, September 23, at the Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) Melbourne Annual Dinner & Business Excellence Awards 2026, Warriors Team Brisbane was named winner of Category D: Social Enterprise, “in recognition of outstanding achievements in developing successful relationships with Latin America”.
Finalists were assessed on strategy, business growth, innovation, commitment to Latin America and ESG practices. Warriors was shortlisted alongside Australia Latin America Foundation and Multicultural Consulting Services, and shared the winners’ stage with Don Kyatt Spare Parts (Category A), The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (Category B) and Calima Workforce Solutions (Category C).
Standing in a room of airlines, miners, law firms and universities and hearing a 100% volunteer-run sports community read out as a business excellence winner says something about what the Australia–Latin America relationship can look like: not only trade, but people. Many of the 800+ members who train with Warriors every week arrived in Brisbane from Latin America and found their first friends here at a session.
The award was presented by Alberto Chico Garcia of LATAM Airlines, the evening’s Champion Sponsor, with ALABC Chief Executive Officer Kim Prior. Our thanks to the judging panel, to Kim Prior, Chair Julie Boden and the whole ALABC team, and to LATAM Airlines.
We accepted this award on behalf of every coach, activity leader and volunteer who shows up week after week, and every member who brings a friend along. It is theirs.
